Terms of Service
Effective date: 18 May 2026
Acceptance
By accessing or using Docrux (“the Service”), including the mobile app and web app at docrux.app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
What Docrux is
Docrux is a document organisation tool that helps you store, search and manage personal documents. On mobile, files are stored locally on your device, encrypted. On the web, files are stored in your own Google Drive account. Docrux does not host, retain or process the contents of your documents on its own servers.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Docrux you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
Your account and data
The mobile app does not require an account. Your documents are stored locally on your device. If you enable optional cloud sync (iCloud on iOS, Google Drive on Android), your data is stored in your own cloud account.
The web app uses Google Sign-In for authentication. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure. You authorise Docrux to access your Google Drive solely for the purpose of reading and writing files within the Docrux folder on your behalf. You can revoke this access at any time from your Google account permissions.
Subscriptions and in-app purchases
Docrux offers optional paid subscriptions (“Pro”) available as in-app purchases through Apple’s App Store:
- Pro Monthly — US$4.99 per month
- Pro Annual — US$39.99 per year
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to Pro features until then.
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy. Docrux does not process payments directly.
Free users can use Docrux with limited storage and features. Existing documents are never deleted when a subscription lapses — they remain accessible on your device.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload or share illegal content or content that infringes third-party rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape or otherwise interfere with the Service
- Circumvent authentication or security controls
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Impersonate any person or entity
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these rules without notice.
Your data and responsibility for it
You own the files you store, whether on your device or in your Google Drive. Docrux does not claim any ownership over your documents. You are solely responsible for ensuring that the documents you upload and share comply with applicable laws, and that you have the right to store and share them.
Document sharing
The web app allows you to create temporary share links for individual documents. Anyone with a valid share link can access the linked document for up to 24 hours. You are responsible for deciding what you share and with whom. Share links are stored in server memory and may become invalid earlier than 24 hours if the server restarts. The mobile app allows sharing documents via the native share sheet.
No warranty -- service provided as-is
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
In particular, automatic field extraction (such as reading expiry dates from documents) may be inaccurate. Always verify extracted information before relying on it.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DOCRUX AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR SERVICE INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Because your files are stored on your device or in your own cloud account, Docrux has no control over and accepts no liability for the availability, security or integrity of your stored data.
AI-powered features
Docrux uses Google Gemini (a large language model API) to power optional features: automatic document naming, profile field extraction, and life event pack matching.
When you trigger one of these features, a portion of the OCR text extracted from your document is sent to the Docrux backend and forwarded to the Gemini API for processing. No document files are transmitted — only plain extracted text. This processing is transient; nothing is stored on our servers. These features are entirely optional and the app functions without them when you are offline or choose not to use them.
Docrux uses the Gemini API under terms that prohibit Google from using submitted content to train or improve AI models. Your document text is not used to train any AI model. AI-generated results (such as suggested document names or extracted fields) may be inaccurate — always verify before relying on them.
Third-party services
Docrux integrates with Google OAuth, the Google Drive API, the Google Gemini API, Apple iCloud, Apple StoreKit (in-app purchases), PostHog (analytics), and Sentry (crash reporting). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for any changes third parties make to their APIs or terms that affect the Service.
Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded the Docrux mobile app from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- This agreement is between you and Docrux (the developer), not Apple Inc. Apple is not a party to this agreement.
- Docrux, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content, including any product claims, intellectual property matters, and legal compliance.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the app. For support, contact [email protected].
- Apple has no warranty obligation for the app. Any claims related to failure to conform to a warranty are the developer’s responsibility.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, regulatory compliance, or consumer protection claims.
- In the event of a third-party intellectual property claim, Docrux (the developer), not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of such claim.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data. By using the Service you agree to that policy.
Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date. Continued use after a change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. To remove all associated data on mobile, uninstall the app and delete any synced data from iCloud Drive or Google Drive. On the web, delete the “Docrux” folder from your Google Drive and revoke app access in your Google account settings. If you have an active subscription, cancel it via Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions before uninstalling. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
